Assessment
Assessment of students work involved both formative and summative assessments. For the purposes of preparing lessons for the following day it is important for teachers to assess the work made in the previous lesson Identifying areas of weakness in the students work and helping them in the next lesson can improve their skills and also lead their work to new possibilities. It allows students to progress in the area also. Both summative and formative assessment can influence the students process and product. Assessment is made by looking at annotations in the sketchbooks and also reflections in the sketchbooks or discussions during presentations etc.

I found reflection was a significant aspect of the students work in both sketchbook and when presenting their work. I found when students had been involved in criteria and goal setting, self-evaluation was a logical step in the learning process ( Garrison & Ehringhaus, 2011). Assessment of student's knowledge and understanding is carried out when critiques take place in the classroom. A student-centered approach is achieved when the success criteria is shared with the students.
SLAR
Below is a screencast of a SLAR (Subject Learning and Assessment Review) I conducted with other art teachers. The scheme of work was completed by 2nd year students and this meeting allowed me to select the relevant descriptors for each student.
